2026-2027 Proposed Property Tax Levy Notice

The City Council will conduct a public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year City property tax levy as follows: Meeting Date: 3/26/2026 Meeting Time: 05:30 PM Meeting Location: Hinton Community Center 205 W. Main St Hinton, IA 51024 At the public hearing any resident or taxpayer may present objections to, or arguments in favor of the proposed tax levy. After the hearing of the proposed tax levy, the City Council will publish notice and hold a hearing on the proposed city budget.

Garbage & Recycling Schedule Update for Hinton Residents

City of Hinton Garbage & Recycling Update

As of January 1, the City of Hinton has transitioned to a new garbage service provider, OC Sanitation.

After completing several routes, OC Sanitation has finalized Hinton’s placement in their schedule. Beginning the week of February 9:

Trash Collection
Trash will be collected on Tuesdays.

Recycling Collection
Recycling will be picked up on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month.

Magnet Calendars
Magnet calendars will be mailed once they are received and will also be available in February at the City Clerk’s Office for anyone who would like one.

Printable Schedules
Printable schedules are available on the OC Sanitation website at:
ocsanitation.com

Schedule Transition
The transition to the new schedule will take place during the second week of February.

February Pickup Dates

Recycling:
February 3, 11, and 25

Trash:
February 5, 10, 17, and 24

At the public hearing any resident or taxpayer may present objections to, or arguments in favor of , any part of the proposed budget. This notice represents a

summary of the supporting detail of revenues and expenditures on file with the City Clerk and County Auditor.

City budgets are subject to protest. If protest petition requirements are met, the State Appeal Board will hold a local hearing. For more information, consult

Lee Jarvis Recognized For Outstanding Citizenship and Dedication to the City of Hinton

The City of Hinton presented Lee Jarvis with a plaque on Thursday, October 8, 2020. A small appreciation thanking him for his outstanding citizenship, dedication and commitment to the City. Lee has volunteered numerous hours of his time on projects and for that we are forever thankful! Please help us let Lee know his work, especially along the frontage road, looks great by thanking him next time you see him. Thank you again, Lee!!
